Leale's Auto Repair and Transmission is owned and operated by Jim Leale, a second-generation mechanic and auto repair shop owner. His father opened the shop in 1963 through hard work and determination. He had a passion for servicing people—traits he passed down to Jim, along with the family business. (As a side note, Jim’s father chose to work on transmissions because he didn’t like leaning over fenders!) Like his father, Jim strives to make each customer feel special, and it’s now his life’s mission to continually improve and make Leale's the best auto repair shop in San Jose.

“My father used to say, ‘My number is listed, and I can sleep well at night.’ After years of following his example and serving our customers well, I can say the same.”
– Jim Leale
When Jim started working alongside his dad, he spent his time cleaning the shop before going on to work on cars and help the auto repair technicians. Eventually, Jim was building transmissions and managing the shop. His dad retired in 1995 and sold the business to him. Quickly, Jim realized he needed to understand how to run the shop, in addition to knowing how to repair vehicles, so he began training in business management, which he continues to pursue with the goal of running an efficient auto repair shop. Jim is driven to find solutions and create an environment that makes that possible.
